I wish I knew more about this, but have to say I’m still learning about it.

One thing i do know is that plastics debris is being broken down by wave action and UV light into tiny micro particles. These are polluting marine environments like estuaries, shorelines and open waters around the world.

I think that many people seem to have an “out of sight and out of mind” mentality and don’t want to think about the plastic rubbish they throw away.

There are some worriesome numbers about just how much of these particles are getting into marine food chains. nano-sized particles are getting inside cells and causing the kinds of damage and molecular changes that suggests they are toxic. Things like poor rates of growth and reproduction suggest that cells and organisms are under stress.

We need to learn more about it!
