I am currently based in South West London and have been here for 8 years. Prior to moving here for work I lived and studied in Bath and Nottingham. I love to travel, cook, and watch Spurs!

My day job involves a combination of lecturing (undergraduate and postgraduate physiology and research methods), admin (can’t avoid it!), research supervision (Final year BSc students, MSc students, MRes students, and PhD researchers), consultancy, and hands-on research.
I run a laboratory at the University of Roehampton that can be made either quite cold (about -3 degrees) or very hot (up to about 55 degrees!). In this laboratory we investigate the effects that such extreme temperatures can have on the human body and on the ability for humans to perform (exercise, work, cognitive tasks etc).

My Typical Day:
Email, lectures, coffee, emails, meetings, science reading, and (hopefully) some time in the lab!

There is no such thing as a typical day because it depends on the lecturing timetable, meetings, and the time of year but every day will generally involve some admin, research, coffee, and lectures (or lecture planning)… how much of each will depend on the day!

What I'd do with the prize money:
Hold a “beating the heat” active laboratory visit for local school children
