• Question: are you stressed alot

      Like most people I do get stressed. But I feel I am getting better at dealing with stress. This due to lots of reasons but mainly because I try and fill my life with lots of things that I like and enjoy doing. I have also learnt what little things stress me out, so I do my best to avoid those things. E.g., busy traffic stresses me out – so I work in walking distance of work. I also hate exams, so I have chosen a career where I rarely get examined (e.g., being a scientist instead of medical doctor). In times that I cannot avoid stress e.g., if work is intense, or I have do an exam (!), or a family member is very ill, I have coping strategies. For example, I like to run, and that clears my mind. I also like to see friends and have a laugh. I also talk about my problems…..which is very good if there is something ‘social’ that is upsetting me, like if I’m having an argument with a friend or family member, I find talking to someone I trust makes me feel able to deal with the situation a lot better. And finally something that I learning not to do – is put so much pressure on myself. I cannot do it all!
