      Every PhD has to finish with something new, so yes… the discovery made in The PhD wasn’t as big as some others though (e.g. Hawkins’ PhD!)!

      There is a moment when you are doing some research….. when you have pages of lab results in front of you…… and suddenly they make sense!

      It’s exciting and you want to run off and tell someone.

      The person I ran to tell was my PhD supervisor and the chap I shared the lab with!

      Yes, every paper we publish needs to add something new…so if I have 50 papers I have discovered 50 new things, but normally these are related and trying to prove the same thing from different angles
