I think I was. My parents tell me I was always interested in different things.

I really liked exploring beaches and rock pools; I learned how to sail and was curious about how the sails caught the wind; it was the days of the Apollo programmes of space exploration and we were all curious about space travel.

I was always interested in how things work, and always asking adults why things happen the way they do. I now study science so I can get answers to some of these questions. So, I guess the short answer is yes, I was always influenced by science!
